Food businesses can fight against recession with the help of a new, award-winning concept in production facilities, Jan 2009

 

Starting a food business is a viable option for many people who have the culinary talent and want to work for themselves and cooking from home means that it’s a cost-effective way of entering the world of enterprise. Park Royal Partnership’s Annual Dinner at Porchester House saw the company receive the award for Best New Business 2008. This was followed two weeks later by Archant London’s awards at The Emirates Stadium, where The Olive Grows won Highly Commended New Business/Start Up for north and west London.

Helen Brennan from Access Storage, and one of the judges, said “I loved the idea that The Olive Grows could help so many other new businesses to grow and I hope they expand quickly enough to meet the demand which has so far exceeded even their expectations”.

The Olive Grows’ clients are mostly small food businesses producing highly creative, authentic food that is globally inspired. From warming stews and Caribbean meals to African snacks and nutritious drinks produced from the plants of the tropics. Their recipes and production methods are uncompromised, remaining true to their roots and they taste divine!

For new businesses, the facilities mean that they can present their products from professional premises that meet the standards required by the food industry. They can immediately target larger customers who would otherwise be out of their reach if they were producing from home. They can also avoid the risk of investing too early in their own unit.

For established businesses, The Olive Grows facilities are a temporary, affordable production space to help fulfil a growing order book until it becomes financially viable to invest in larger premises.
